HP unveils thinner, lighter Ultrabooks

HP introduced two Workstation Ultrabooks it said are the industry’s thinnest and lightest.

The HP ZBook 14 has a 14” diagonal screen while the 15u has a 15.6” diagonal screen.  The ZBook 14 and 15u workstations weigh in at 3.77 pounds, or 4.23 pounds for the larger model, and are less than 0.9 inches thick. They feature Windows 8.1, Intel Core i5/i7 processors, 3D graphics and HP Z Turbo Drive, which allows for double the performance of SATA solid state drives.

Both Ultrabooks also include 1.25 TB storage and 16 GB memory for maximum storage capacity.  They also feature an optional 10 point multi-touch screen, with stock touch screen finger swiping applications.

The Zbooks include an integrated smart card reader, and optional fingerprint scanner and Computrace with GPS Tracking agent. They are designed to undergo MIL-STD 810G testing.

The HP ZBook 14 and 15u Workstation Ultrabooks start at $1,249 and $1,199 respectively.
